A Black Bag is a physical and cyber security competition where participants must gain access to an area and rapidly exploit intelligence from a number of different sources in a short period of time. A traditional Black Bag scenario has teams of 5-7 playing espionage agents, who may pick a lock to a hotel room, exploit a mobile phone, plant a bug, and exit without a trace before the target returns. The Black Bag prepared for the ADFCSC has a strong ADF focus: Participants will be playing soldiers, conducting rapid digital battlefield exploitation on a captured enemy command node. Intelligence flags can be retrieved from the room and submitted to the Black Bag flag server for points.
